  3. Ken, you’re on a roll with the humor this week! Loved this even though I only guessed a few. Me and my growing-more-faulty memory! Fun. Shared on FB.

I love pop quizzes! It is amazing how good slogans can stand the test of time. I found it interesting that the questions I had the easiest time with were ones that played before I was born.
    Thanks for the fun!

That was a fun step back in time. There were a couple of slogans I’d never heard. Of the rest, I only guessed right a little more than half, even though I remember the slogan, I don’t always remember the brand. What does that say about the effectiveness of advertising?

Ken – very different to your usual blog. Good to change things up a bit.

I only recognise some of these advertisements. The first advert made me laugh!

  9. Was for obvious reasons not watching American television in 1969. Here are some old jokes about companies from Europe, “Take a chance – take Air France”. SABENA – such a bloody experience never again.

Okay, now this was a party! I LOVED it! The only ones I didn’t guess I assume were not national? Like Crazy Eddy’s? But the Brylcream one really cracked me up. I remember my dad actually humming that jingle, as he combed Bryl cream through his hair! Hahahahaha!

I got 6 right. Shows my age. But Chipendale’s for Where’s the beef is definitely the funniest option. Fun post, Ken. Humor is welcome.

This was fun – I remembered them all – even Crazy Eddie – except ‘where’s the beef’. Just goes to show how much TV we watched in those days if we remember the commercials 50 years later.

Re the Brylcreem question: Tabasco sauce is a Louisiana product, and when I lived in the Big Easy I put plenty of Tabasco sauce on my red beans and rice every Monday, so I knew that couldn’t be it.

The Alka-Seltzer ad I remember is the “I Can’t Believe I Ate The Whole Thing” one:
