Dia:Beacon

The Dia Arts Foundation maintains exhibition spaces in Chelsea and in Beacon, N.Y., a small Dutchess County town on the east bank of the Hudson River. The Beacon space is a former Nabisco box printing factory.

  1. Hello Ken. I was at MOMA last month for the first time in many years. There’s a room devoted to Jackson Pollock. One of the works in that room is an enormous drip painting. It’s great.

  2. The spider sculpture is creepy, and I can’t stop looking at it 🙂 The images with the lights remind me of Boise’s new JUMP building. It’s an intriguing multi-purpose space that also houses Simplot’s tractor collection.

    I like the Louise Bourgeois spider. I’ve seen another one of her spiders at Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art. Like Jeri said, the piece keeps drawing your eye. Some of the other pieces you’ve highlighted don’t do much for me, but I can tell that many of them are large and would have a different impact in person.
