I use a hot and spicy bird food that the birds are okay with but the squirrels don’t eat. Then, when I found a couple squirrels who were undeterred by my aviary Buffalo sauce, I sprayed the top of the feeder with the bitter apple spray I had used to keep my dog from chewing the furniture when he was a puppy.
And not a squirrel in sight…..

That’s quite the variety of birds in your backyard. Cardinals are one of my favourites.

Thanks for the tips on deterring the tree rats. I tried Cayenne Pepper but they only laughed at me. I’ll try some Tabasco and see if that works.

It’s a “smart” bird feeder. Has a built in camera and Wi-Fi connection.
